This mixed-methods research project examined notions of citizenship, rights, and belonging among refugee and newcomer immigrant students in schools across two diverse social contexts: New York and Arizona. The study sought to understand how recently arrived refugee and immigrant students understand concepts of civic identity, rights, and belonging, as well as the importance of the social context of schools and communities.
