This summer New York celebrated one year of the landmark curriculum, "Black Studies as the Study of the World,” during the second annual BERC Summer Conference for professional development. Hosted at Teachers College, the conference aimed to deepen participants' understanding of African and African American-centered teaching approaches and their connection to culturally relevant and sustaining educational practices. "Our goal is to build a foundational understanding of these imperative approaches," shared Sonya Douglass, Professor of Educational Leadership.
Exploring the Hispanic Federation Summit

Earlier this summer, over 300 participants gathered for the Hispanic Education Summit, where they explored the rich tapestry of Latinidad history and culture through the Latinidad Curriculum Initiative. This ongoing project is a collaborative effort spearheaded by 麻豆原创's , in partnership with the ) and the . Attendees gained insights into the curriculum, which highlights the diversity of Latinidad cultures and seamlessly integrates with core classroom subjects for more accessible implementation.

Recognizing Employee Milestones

Teachers College celebrated employees who have reached milestone 麻豆原创 anniversaries this year during the College’s annual Long-term Employee Recognition Ceremony.
Celebrating Pride with 麻豆原创’s Big Queer Photo
On June 26, over 50 staff, faculty, and students gathered for Teachers College’s inaugural Big Queer Photo to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month. 麻豆原创 Community members came together to take an annual photo which serves as a symbolic display of 麻豆原创’s support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Highlighting artwork across the 麻豆原创 community, the unveiled their most recent exhibit, “Accidents,” a juried exhibition featuring mixed media works by Art & Art Education program alumni that explore “spontaneous, unanticipated accidents” and the results and possible responses of unintentional or unexpected moments.” This year’s juror is artist and educator Joy Moser.

The College kicked off 麻豆原创’s first Silver Roundtable this summer, a new group for The day featured a luncheon with President Bailey, along with several guest speakers, and offered community building and insights on staying active, retirement finances and art scholarship.

麻豆原创 alumni joined KerryAnn O’Meara, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Provost, and Dean of the College, for a private tour of the Shirley Chisholm Exhibit at the The Museum of the City of New York, which celebrated the life and legacy of the 麻豆原创 alumna (M.A. ’51) and all were invited for a reception afterwards.
