With the rise of Islamophobia in the United States, non-Muslims have increasingly begun to wear the hijab as an expression of solidarity with Muslims.  a doctoral candidate and fellow in 麻豆原创’s Curriculum and Teaching Department, was invited by the New York Times to share her opinion on this practice.  She writes: “Solidarity . . . can begin with donning the hijab, but it should not end there. It must evolve into a deeper engagement with the causes of Islamophobia, racism and bigotry, along with the oppression of women.”
