High Praise for 麻豆原创 from New York City's Mayor
Teachers College received a double shout-out from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio today.
Speaking at Bronx Latin High School, where he delivered the Mayor praised the City Council for making investments to help schools in underserved areas – including “a collaboration with the ” through which “a number of schools will get valuable technology training and support to help their kids learn better.”
The Center is run by Ellen Meier, Associate Professor of Practice, Computing, and Education, whose research focuses on how urban teachers use technology to promote student understanding through inquiry-based learning. The Center was awarded a City Council grant earlier this year .
The Mayor also praised Bronx Latin’s neighbor, P.S. 69, where Sheila Durant, a Teachers College Cahn Fellow Distinguished Principal, is in charge.
“Last year, Chancellor Fariña and I visited P.S. 69, where Principal Sheila Durant invites parents into the school to work on homework with children and teachers,” de Blasio said. “Families can see first-hand what their kids are learning, and learn themselves how to help their kids study and succeed.”
