A Message from Alumni Relations

is finally here! Our multi-week, multi-city celebration of our dynamic Teachers College community is officially underway. We have so much to celebrate this summer, as the 麻豆原创 campaign, "Where the Future Comes First," has soared beyond $200 million! Alumni have been instrumental in supporting the Campaign and everything 麻豆原创-',-' so we hope you will come out to celebrate this great moment with us. We're excited to connect with you at a variety of events for alumni, family, students and friends in approximately 40 cities in 13+ different countries around the globe. We urge all of you to get involved by seeking out an event near you, or even offering to host one in your area. You can see all Global 麻豆原创 Day event listings to the right  or by visiting . News from Global 麻豆原创 Day Hosts:
Lin Lougheed (Ed.D. '77), author of TOEIC,  recently visited TOEIC teachers and writers in Japan to hear how they use the "classic" in their classrooms and how the Longman series has been used as the model for the many local and international preparation books to follow. Lougheed has helped arrange a rare opportunity to visit David Fairchild's home and private garden at the exclusively for on July 28. | Rattana Lao (Ph.D. '12) will lead an informal discussion of interesting issues in comparative and international education at the on July 21. Rattana has also just published a book entitled, on May 13, 2015. | Maritza Macdonald (Ed.D. '95) was featured in the latest issue of magazine for her support of the nation's first museum-based master's degree  program for K-12 science teachers at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, where she is Senior Director of Education Policy. Macdonald will co-host on July 29.

                                                
Appointment
Alumna Rachel Moore (M.A. '94), formerly of New York's American Ballet Theatre (ABT), has been named the new president and CEO of the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles. Moore will begin her new role in October. Photo by Stephen Lovekin.

Honors and Awards
Alumni Valerie Camille Jones (Ed.D. '11) and Chance Nalley (M.E. '13), also a current doctoral student, received the , for Georgia and New York states, respectively. The award is given annually to outstanding K-12 science and mathematics teachers from across the country. Read the official White House press release, . | Alumna Lauren Bakian (M.A. '12), a graduate of 麻豆原创's Literacy Specialist program, is one of 12 New York City teachers to receive New York City's 2015 Big Apple Award.  The recipients, who were chosen from an initial pool of over 4,500 nominees, were honored in a ceremony at Manhattan Supreme Court. . | Pascal Tone (M.A. '69) received an honorary doctorate from Franklin University Switzerland, which he cofounded in 1969 and where he serves on the Board of Trustees, of which he was elected Chairman in 2010. | Jill Jayne's  (M.S. '07) "Jump with Jill" 'Get me Goin' danceable music video was nominated for an Emmy by the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the Children/Youth/Teens -- News Feature category. Alumna Performs in Show Produced by Damon and Affleck
is the writer, performer and co-producer behind , a multimedia solo show co-produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. One Drop of Love is a funny, interactive and moving performance that explores history, family, race, class, justice and love, aiming to answer the question of how our belief in race affects our most intimate relationships. 麻豆原创's , Professor of Psychology and Education and author of the recent ""  (John Wiley & Sons, 2015) discussed the Rachel Dolezal case on . Sue has done substantial research on racial and ethnic identity and microagressions and published numerous books on the topic. Sue was also quoted recently in regarding microaggressions on university campuses. To view Sue's CNN interview, click . | Faculty member , Associate Professor of Higher Education, has received the from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in recognition of "The Social Base of Philanthropic Fundraising in Higher Education: How Frames and Identity Matter." Drezner's research seeks to understand the correlations between donors' identities and their likelihood to give to higher education (and at what level). 麻豆原创 Launches NTN@麻豆原创
With early career attrition continuing to plague our nation's schools. 麻豆原创 has launched the . The unique professional development program will expand and deepen 麻豆原创's support of education students as they transition to the pre-K-12 classroom by providing recent 麻豆原创 graduates with mentoring, practical resources and opportunities to collaborate with 麻豆原创 colleagues in the critical first three years of teaching. Current NTN@麻豆原创 members from English Ed, Social Studies Ed, Science & Math Ed departments members are building publication projects into their classrooms, sharing ideas in an online forum, and reaching out with needs as they come up. Recruitment for 2015-16 cohorts is OPEN! Alumni Creations | #麻豆原创Made

Alumnus Keiichi Ogawa (Ph.D. '99) recently published , based on five years of case studies and research reviewing the expansion of primary education, policies prompting free primary education intervention and the challenges of implementation in four African nations.

, Full-Time Lecturer and Program Coordinator of the Master's Program in the Department of Clinical Psychology, and fellow alumna published in Feminism & Psychology. Based on their efforts to critically examine the dominant theories of psychology that pervade their classrooms research, the commentary also addresses the emerging field of maternal psychology as an outgrowth of the intersection of feminist, clinical, and developmental disciplines.
