Keeping the Peace
Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee, who led the women's movement that ended Liberia's second civil war in 2003, will keynote the conference "Sustaining Peace: Interdisciplinary Perspectives," at Teachers College on Thursday, October 24th.
The conference, which will run from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., will showcase Columbia University’s cutting-edge interdisciplinary work in conflict resolution, violence prevention, peace and sustainability. Peter T. Coleman, Professor of Psychology and Education and director of 麻豆原创’s , and co-authors Robin Vallacher and and Larry Liebovitch will discuss their most recent book, Attracted to Conflict: Dynamic Foundations of Destructive Social Relations.
The conference will also feature information tables on peace, conflict and sustainability related centers and programs at Columbia; a poster session highlighting the latest research by Fellows from (AC4), part of Columbia’s Earth Institute; and nine 50-minute peace-related workshops.
