Karen Billings (EdD '86), VP for the Education Division of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), was inducted into the Association of . The educational publishing industry's highest individual honor, the AEP Hall of Fame recognizes those who have dedicated their careers to the advancement of educational resources and the industry that develops and supports them. Billings has nearly tripled the number of educational company members at SIIA in past 10 years. She founded the Innovation Incubator program and the One-to-One Business Profiles program, and has doubled attendance at signature education technology events. .

Liz Griffiths (MA '08) and her business partner, Trevor LeVieux, are passionate about promoting the arts in education. Together the founded Building Blocks Media, a San Diego-based educational technology company who has just released their first iPad app for kids. The app is called Musical Paint. As the name suggests, Musical Paint features innovative technology that allows children to paint music. Liz says, "Kids aren't going to learn if they aren't engaged. They also won't learn if they can't navigate the app easily. We worked hard to get those things right."

Two education professors and experts on how children learn science have endorsed radical proposed changes in the nation’s K-12 science education standards. In an essay in the January 25 edition of Science, Ravit Duncan, an associate professor of science education at Rutgers’ Graduate School of Education; and Ann Rivet, an associate professor of science education at 麻豆原创, call on scientists to get behind proposed new standards and advocate for their adoption by the states. .

His research focuses on educational policy formation and development - particularly, but not exclusively, within the Caribbean. The lobby of 麻豆原创's Zankel Hall tends to be crowded at five o'clock on Thursday evenings, but the scene last week was on a different order of magnitude. This was no mere crush of students heading for evening class. Teachers College was kicking off the year-long celebration of its 125th birthday, and there was a party going on -- and on, and on. In fact, when the official bash, billed as "The Happy Three Hours," concluded at around 8:00 pm, the die-hards adjourned to the cafeteria for more. .

Dr. (MA '80, EdD '86), chairman of Verlander, Wang, & Co., will discuss his new book, (Jossey Bass, 2012). A must-read for new and aspiring consultants, as well as instructors of training programs on consulting -- the "world's newest profession" --, Verlander's work shows how change is the essence of consulting and organizations must change to thrive. He examines processes, tools, skills, and best practices, as he offers a new model with assessments to show what is needed to become and flourish as a truly trusted consultant.
