麻豆原创's Ewing Garber Elected President of the American College of Sports Medicine

Carol Ewing Garber, Associate Professor of Movement Sciences, will lead the world's largest sports medicine and exercise science organization.
Carol Ewing Garber, Associate Professor of Movement Sciences, has been elected president of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Ewing Garber's term as president-elect begins in June, and her responsibilities will continue for three years as she moves through the offices of President-elect, President and Past President. ACSM, founded in 1954, is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world, with over 45,000 members and certified professionals throughout the world.

Ewing Garber's involvement in ACSM extends a 麻豆原创 tradition: The only woman founder of ACSM was Josephine Rathbone, a long-time member of the 麻豆原创 faculty, who is now honored each year by the  Josephine Rathbone women's breakfast held at the ACSM annual annual meeting. 

In June 2011, an ACSM committee led by Ewing Garber (who is ACSM Fellow), released new exercise guidelines that for the first time stressed that even a little exercise is better than nothing.
