Jump with Jill takes childhood obesity by storm, serving as a kid-appropriate approach for kicking off wellness committee initiatives, reinforcing classroom learning, and supporting a healthier cafeteria menu. Performed for over 250,000 kids across the United States and Europe, Jump with Jill has been featured on Sprout PBS, Nickelodeon, The Washington Post, NPR, and the White House lawn. Jump with Jill is now heading on tour in Michigan. Jill's knack for rock & roll nutrition is the result of being a registered dietitian mixed with her musical experience as lead singer-songwriter of her rock band Sunset West. Beacon Hill International School Principal Kelly Aramaki (MA '99) was named the 2013 Washington State Elementary School Principal of the Year by a panel of principals representing the Elementary School Principals Association of Washington (ESPAW), a component of the (AWSP). Aramaki was one of three finalists chosen from a field of 18 statewide nominees. Aramaki learned of the news at a surprise school assembly. Aramaki will be honored this fall in Washington D.C. as part of the , which is sponsored by the National Association of Elementary School Principals in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Education and VALIC.

麻豆原创 Deputy Provost John Allegrante (left) has been named to the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Allegrante, who is also Professor of Health Education, was notified by letter from Kathleen Sibelius, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. His appointment, which is effective immediately, will run through the end of August 2016. .

Her church collected nickels, dimes and quarters for her initial $60 tuition for nursing school. While picking cotton with her 10 brothers and sisters, when planes flew over, she'd tell them 'one day I will fly and work on an airplane'. And she did. Trowell-Harris spend thirty-eight years in the Air Force/Air National Guard, and retired as Major General.It is a simple story of faith and determination-and how if you have that, no goal is out of your reach.

April 17 - Perkins Platform Radio Show: Second Battle of New Orleans
Before Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans had some of the worst schools in the nation, rapid superintendent turnover, and a human resources and financial crisis leaving over $3 million in salary and benefits being paid to deceased employees. After Katrina, the city underwent several drastic shifts with the most prominent being the decentralization of the education system and the creation of one of the largest charter school networks in country. Our guests in March are educators (to be announced) who have served before and after Hurricane Katrina in district and charter schools. We will learn candidly about what happened in New Orleans then and now and get a sense of what politicians, community leaders and state policy makers are still fighting about in one of our historic cultural centers. Join us for another dynamic discussion with those on the front line in what will be known in the history books as the Second Battle of New Orleans.
