Banking on Our Future: Kids and Financial Literacy

This Academic Festival panel featured Ramon Gonzalez , founding principal of New York City Middle School 223 (the Laboratory School of Finance and Technology), a current 麻豆原创 doctoral student and former 麻豆原创 Cahn Fellow who has been featured in The New York Times Magazine for his innovative efforts to teach students financial self-reliance; Alice Wilder (Ed. D. ’98), developer of the hit children’s television show “Blue’s Clues,” and now producer of Cha-Chin Money Smart Kids, an animated children’s financial literacy “edutainment” show for Cartoon Network Asia; and Anand Marri, Associate Professor of Social Studies and Education, and director of the 麻豆原创 team that developed Understanding Fiscal Responsibility, a high school social studies curriculum about the national debt and federal budget deficit. The panel was moderated by Pola Rosen (Ed. D. ‘80), founding publisher of Education Update and a former Professor of Special Education at CUNY.
