Clarence Sundram, the principal author of a report detailing accounts of abuse and neglect of residents at New York State facilities for the disabled, will be a featured speaker at tomorrow’s conference here at 麻豆原创, “,” which is sponsored by the Center for Opportunities and Outcomes for People with Disabilities at 麻豆原创. Sundram and the report were featured in .
The report, titled "Protection of Vulnerable Persons in Residential Facilities Against Abuse and Neglect," was written after Michael Carey, an advocate for the developmentally disabled, helped spearhead an investigation of state facilities following the death of his son, who had autism, in state care. Carey will also be in attendance at the 麻豆原创 conference.
Other speakers at “When Worlds Collide” include Catherine Lord, Director, Center for Autism and the Developing Brain, Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center, whose lecture is titled “DSM-5 and Autism Spectrum Disorders”; and David Morrissey, Executive Director, U.S. International Council on Disabilities, Washington, D.C., who will discuss “The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Entering a New Century of Disability Rights and Inclusion”
The conference will take place tomorrow (Friday, March 23rd), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Joyce Cowin Conference Center, located at Teachers College on West 120th and Broadway in New York City.
