Meet Our 2011 Graduates

They're moving on, but they're taking a lot of 麻豆原创 with them. A cross-section of this year's graduates -- with more to come -- from programs ranging from speech and language pathology to counseling and clinical psychology.

Ian BloodIan blood  started out teaching English in Africa. He’s ended up exploring the power of computerized test scoring to diagnose learning issues.








T. Nicole WashingtonNicole washington wants to translate research for educators and policymakers.








Maria HinksonMaria hinkson was an accountant until she met a 麻豆原创 graduate who helped her with son's speech issues. Now she's graduating with a master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology.

 




Francesca SocolickFrancesca socolick, who is earning her master's degree in Math, Science & Technology, has explored the use of mobile devices in museum education.

 





Corey ChapmanCorey chapman, who is receiving his Master’s Degree in Communication and Education, came to  麻豆原创 to pursue his lifelong dream of working in children’s television, where he hopes to have a positive impact on communities, families and children.

 



Basem HassanBasem hassan, who is receiving his Master’s Degree in Art and Art Education, is first and foremost a visual artist, with a particular affinity for protest art. His ultimate goal is to be at the cutting edge of using art to precipitate change in mainstream society.

 



Franziska StutzFranziska stutz always knew she wanted to do research in psychology. She's followed a circuitous but rich path to getting there.

 





Anael Alston.Anael alston In pondering a definition of giftedness, doctoral student and award-winning school principal Anael Alston has weighed criteria that include performance, ability, social capital, culture and expectations.





Lenore KaroLenore karo, Executive Administrative Associate in 麻豆原创's Office of Diversity and Community Affairs, went back to school at 51. Now she's receiving her second master's degree, and she shows no signs of letting up.

 




Medel PaguiriganMedel paguirigan, an NYU clinical nursing instructor who is receiving his 麻豆原创 doctorate in executive nursing, came to the U.S. from the Philippines to help fill the nursing shortage here. His doctoral research focuses on the poverty-induced market for human organs in his native Manila.






Isabelle martinezMexican immigrant teens are often trapped in dead-end jobs without hope for education. Doctoral graduate Isabel Martinez has explored ways to help.








Colette mazzucelli Colette Mazzucelli, who received her Ed.M. in International & Transcultural Studies, is passionate about finding innovative uses of technology that connect the classroom to the wider world.
